What is Miret's vision for sustainable footwear? – MIRET eco sneakers Skip to content

Brothers. Innovative Shoemakers on a mission.

This is our story.

Industry Insiders with Green Hearts

We’re two brothers from Croatia. In our early twenties we inherited the family business from our father. A family business responsible for crafting high-end footwear for some of the most famous brands on the market. As time passed, our business and expertise grew. Yet, so did our moral dilemma to remain an active part of the problem or to make a dramatic change and “do the right thing”. No longer were we willing to compromise business before ethics. It was time to act.

The Dark Side of Footwear

The truth is that footwear is a toxic and harmful industry, but often hides under the radar. Most sneakers are mass produced using harmful materials like synthetic textiles, synthetic rubber and other plastics. These are also the source of micro-plastics that pollute our earth, sea, air, water, and ultimately ending up on our plates. Leather, which is generally considered a "natural material", is actually packed with toxic chemicals. Leather tanning is also a highly toxic process which pollutes waterways, environments and even those who make the shoes. In a disposable-trend society, we throw-out our sneakers putting an unbearable burden on the Earth's ecosystems.

A Sustainable Alternative

With all this in mind, we simply had to change the status quo. We were compelled to inform and empower others so they could choose a sustainable alternative. MIRET sneakers were born. Driven by our dedication and desire to make things right we've combined the strongest natural fibres to craft comfortable sneakers ensuring minimal environmental impact in each tiniest detail.

New / Old materials

The shoe is crafted from New Zealand wool, natural rubber latex & hemp. Our quest took us across the world in search of new innovative materials. It's been a long journey and we are pushing forward with ecology and sustainability as our core values.

Time for a Change

Thoughtfully-designed, ethically-made goods that really put people, our planet and the future of humanity first. Change is not easy. It takes a lot of effort. But we already have the knowledge and the tools. We just need to use them.
